# How do I choose or hide the caller ID?

You can set which **caller ID number** you want to transfer. By default, **no sender number is set**. You can use both your mobile number and a landline number or, for example, a number from your **switchboard** set. This applies only to calls within Germany; abroad, your sipgate phone number will always be displayed.

As **Admin** click in the **account management** on the user for whom you want to set the caller ID number. The routing opens, where you can use a click on the desired VoIP phone to **caller ID number** change or suppress it using the gear icon.

As **user** click under **My Telephony** on the menu item **Navigation** and select the **desired device** out. You can also set the caller ID number here using the gear icon.

In the field **displayed phone number** you can assign an already assigned phone number as **caller ID** set, or **Sender number** suppress it. If you display the caller ID number by default, you can subsequently suppress it if needed for individual phone calls by using the key combination \*31# before the actual phone number.\\

* Your original, incoming-set phone number is visible to the **police, emergency services, call centers,** **law enforcement authorities** at all times. The **misuse** of this service is **punishable**.
* For the transmission of sender numbers not assigned to your account, a function called **Clip no Screening** is used. Since not all networks and providers support this, we cannot guarantee - especially for calls abroad - that the desired number will always be displayed to the recipient.
* If an international phone number is set as the caller ID, calls or faxes to special numbers such as 0800 may not be possible in some cases. Some providers of special numbers only allow connections from German landline and mobile numbers.

Important: The sender number set here is not automatically transferred to the sipgate app. Here you must as a user once again your [set sender number](https://help.sipgate.de/hc/de/articles/20859111266077-Wie-kann-ich-meine-Absenderrufnummer-in-CLINQ-setzen).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.sipgate.de/cloud-telefonanlage/en/using-sipgate/telefonie/wie-waehle-oder-unterdruecke-ich-die-absenderrufnummer.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
