How do I set up WhatsApp with a sipgate mobile number?

Set up and verify WhatsApp with a sipgate mobile number or local phone number.

Use WhatsApp with a mobile or landline number

With a mobile number ported to sipgate or a newly booked mobile number, you can activate WhatsApp via SMS or call. When activating with your sipgate landline number, you will not receive an SMS, but rather a call with the activation code for WhatsApp. The 0211 test numbers in the 30-day trial phase cannot be verified.

Registration and verification via SMS

SMS sent automatically from abroad via so-called "cheap routes" are sometimes not delivered. This means that SMS sent via web SMS providers may occasionally not arrive on sipgate SIM cards. When using sipgate SIM cards, this may also affect, for example, the registration SMS from iMessage (Apple) and WhatsApp or mTANs from online banks. However, this can sometimes be easily bypassed: for example, you can also verify a WhatsApp account by means of a call. Although this limitation is annoying, it is only a temporary problem. We are currently contacting all M2M SMS providers to encourage them to configure their routes to our network correctly. If you notice that you are not receiving a verification SMS, for example, please contact the respective provider and ask them to connect their SMS route to the sipgate Wireless network.
