# First steps in sipgate mobile network

With sipgate, you can make calls not only in the office or at home, but also on the go in the sipgate mobile network. What do you need for that? A mobile-capable phone and a SIM card.

To set up your mobile phone for mobile service with sipgate, you must first create it in your account under **Telephony** in the routing overview. You can decide whether you want to activate an eSIM or a physical SIM card for your mobile device. Information on setting up your device can be found in the help center article [Configure smartphones, tablets & co.](https://help.sipgate.de/hc/de/articles/360020432378).

{% hint style="success" %}
For information: All SIM cards and shipping are **free of charge**.
{% endhint %}

It is best to check in advance whether your **mobile phone** is eSIM-capable. If so, you can **eSIM** activate it with a click of the button. Now specify what kind of **mobile phone** you want to use and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you need a **physical SIM card** you can order it in advance in your **account management** under **Contracts & Products** by clicking there on **Order SIM cards**. The other way is via the point **Activate SIM card** when creating the mobile device as described above, after which you either enter your existing SIM ID or a **Order SIM card** .

#### Book mobile phone numbers

To use your **mobile phone** with the SIM card, you can either route an existing phone number to the device or use or book existing mobile phone numbers. You can choose between a block of 3, 10, or 100 numbers.

You can read about how to assign mobile numbers in the article [Set up account](https://help.sipgate.de/hc/de/articles/360020149618-Account-einrichten) .

#### Set sender number from the mobile phone

With your **mobile phone** you have the option, just like with a phone, to set your sender number individually. To do this, click under **My Telephony** on the menu item **Telephony** and select your desired mobile device. You can now click on the menu item **device settings** in the expanded menu and set the sender number there.

**Important**: The set sender number is applied to all devices within a device group

When you make calls abroad, your sipgate number is usually shown instead of the number you assigned yourself - we have no influence over that.

For SMS sending: You can only set sender numbers that are stored in your account. If you set a number as the sender that is not in your account, then when sending SMS a number from your account is automatically set as the sender.

If the sender number is suppressed, the sender is “sipgate”.

#### The sipgate mobile network

sipgate operates its own core mobile network within the Telefónica Deutschland network. We use only Telefónica's mobile masts - we developed the actual technology behind it ourselves. So you make calls and surf in the sipgate network.

#### Book a tariff and make calls abroad

The DE all-network flat rate listed on our [Prices and tariffs page](https://www.sipgate.de/preise) under basic functions covers all calls made from the sipgate landline network. Anyone who also wants to use the benefits of the all-network flat rate with their mobile device must book it additionally for mobile service. You can make calls in all countries of the European Union with your sipgate SIM card. Use of your SIM card in non-EU countries is possible in some cases. The prices for use in non-EU countries and the list of countries in which the SIM card works can be found on our [website](https://www.sipgate.de/alletarife#mobilfunk).

**Enable and disable call waiting on the mobile phone**

In many cases, call waiting cannot be set or switched off directly via the device, but must be configured manually using a key combination.

Dial \*43# ➔ Call button to activate call waiting

Dial #43# ➔ Call button to deactivate call waiting

Can I also be reached on my extension?\
Yes, you can also be reached by your colleagues on your extension while on the go.

Reachability via extension by SIM\
To reach another person from the sipgate account via extension, simply dial the extension number followed by an \*.\
If you want to call extension 10, enter **10\*** and start the call.

**Important**: Transferring to an extension padded with zeros is **not** possible.
