# What can I do if the area code is dialed automatically?

When dialing internal extensions, it often happens that they are dialed with an automatically inserted prefix and therefore no connection is established to the desired destination. When using an **AVM FRITZ!Box** this automatic prefix can be disabled with just a few clicks.

To do this, under the menu item **Telephony** under **Own phone numbers** the stored sipgate phone number must be edited. After the sipgate number has been opened for editing, the telephony provider at the top must first be changed from **sipgate** on **Other providers** which creates additional configuration options.

In the section **Phone number format** you can now select whether a country code or area code should be dialed as well. Simply choose the setting **None** for both options and then save by clicking on **OK**.
