Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a security protocol used for encrypted transmission of data over the internet. It is the successor to SSL and serves to prevent third parties from simply analyzing your SIP data.

The Setup of TLS can be carried out in your phone, router, or VoIP app as follows:

Enter registrar

Enter as registrar/domain sipgate.de .

Enter proxy

In the Proxy/Outbound Proxy field, enter sip.sipgate.de .

Change signaling

With some models, you must change the signaling from UDP to TLS.

With encrypted signaling, we also require that the voice data be encrypted. Depending on the device, encryption can happen automatically. If manual encryption is required, "SRTP" must be set on the device. If this setting is incorrect, calls will be rejected with the error "488 No Acceptable here".

Exceptions:

• Speedport W7XX & W9XX does not offer you either a second server or the TLS setting.

• Speedport Hybrid does not offer you either a second server or the TLS setting.

• Speedport Pro does not offer you either a second server or the TLS setting.

• Fritz!Box requires at least firmware 7.23 in order to be able to activate TLS.

• Zoiper Android rejects TLS registration with SIP 408 Timeout.
