How do I configure signal encryption via TLS?

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a security protocol for encrypted transmission of data over the internet. Learn how to set up TLS for sipgate.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a security protocol used for the encrypted transmission of data over the Internet. It is the successor to SSL and is intended to prevent third parties from simply analyzing your SIP data.

The setup of TLS can be carried out in your phone, router, or VoIP app as follows:

1

Enter registrar

Enter sipgate.de .

2

Enter proxy

In the Proxy/Outbound Proxy field, enter sip.sipgate.de .

3

Change signaling

On some models, you must change the signaling from UDP to TLS.

With encrypted signaling, we also require the voice data to be encrypted. Depending on the device, encryption may happen automatically. If manual encryption is required, "SRTP" must be set on the device. If this setting is incorrect, calls will be rejected with error "488 No Acceptable here".
