# How do I configure my VoIP phone with sipgate?

There is already a VoIP phone in every user account, visible as a telephony endpoint or interface. This interface must now be connected to a desk phone, softphone, or another device so that calls can actually be made. Look in the **account management** via the menu item **user** the appropriate person. Then click on the device you want to configure at the top. An info box will now open with all the data you need for the configuration: Now the SIP ID, registrar, and password must be entered into the device or softphone so that the configuration is complete and calls can be made.

{% tab title="sipgate classic" %}
The users can also configure their devices themselves. To do so, they click on **Telephony.** There they will also find the devices and can proceed as described above. Further information on creating users can be found in the article [Set up account](https://help.sipgate.de/hc/de/articles/360020149618).

Do you need more detailed help with the configuration? In the info box, click on [Configuration guides.](https://help.sipgate.de/hc/de/articles/4402636353041-Alle-Konfigurationsanleitungen-auf-einen-Blick) There you will find instructions for the most common devices and softphones.

After configuration, you can use simple tests to find out whether the endpoint is working correctly. Just dial the test number 10000. If you can reach this number, your endpoint is connected correctly.

**Important:** If you have enabled automatic prefix dialing, you cannot reach the test number 10000.
{% endhint %}

**Recommended and popular phones**

Whether cordless or fixed on the desk – you can decide for yourself which VoIP-capable device you want to use sipgate with. To get an overview of compatible desk or DECT phones, we have created an overview of the most popular phones in combination with sipgate:

* **snom D385**: A reliable business phone with color display and Bluetooth function.
* **Tiptel 3300**: A premium IP phone with a large color display and 10 function keys.

**Plug & Play (autoprovisioning) for snom D phones**

Plug & Play, also called autoprovisioning or remote setup, enables quick and easy configuration of snom DXXX phones. Please note that **Plug & Play** does not work for **VoIP add-on lines** If multiple phones are created for a user, all are created as separate accounts on the device.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Your **snom DXXX device** has a firmware update **from version 10.x**.
{% endhint %}

Log in to your sipgate account as **admin** and go to **account management**. There, click now under **telephone system** on **Plug & Play.**

If you connect the phone now, it will load the configuration file and be ready for use immediately. If required, you can manually adjust the configuration file in the XML editor. If you want to assign the phone to another user, you can click the gear icon in the top right and reassign the device. ## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.sipgate.de/cloud-telefonanlage/en/getting-started/alles-fur-den-start-mit-sipgate/wie-konfiguriere-ich-mein-voip-telefon-mit-sipgate.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
