How do I assign the phone numbers?

Learn how to assign, change, or remove phone numbers in sipgate for users, groups, or VoIP lines.

In your sipgate account, you can freely assign your phone numbers to users or groups. It is important to know that individual phone numbers can only be assigned to individual users or groups. If you assign a phone number that has already been assigned to 'new' users or groups, the 'old' users or groups will lose the assigned phone number.

This is how you assign phone numbers

Via the menu item Phone numbers in your account administration, you will find all options for managing your phone numbers. In the overview, you can now see which phone numbers are already assigned and for which ones you can set a call destination .

To assign phone numbers that have not yet been assigned to users, click Select destination. Now select the desired users and click on save routing. The users can then assign the phone number to a device themselves or route it.

If you want to assign the selected phone number not to the users, but to a group or a VoIP extension you can switch the target category with a click on the drop-down menu under the automatically set 'User'.

How to change or delete the call destination of a phone number

In the same menu, you can also assign an already assigned phone number to a new destination or remove it. To do this, go to the three dots behind the phone number and select the desired action. The following destinations can be selected here:

  • User

  • Group

  • Fax

  • Channel

Call via speed dial list

The speed dial list allows you to reach your important contacts with just one click. Via the main menu item presence display you can access your speed dial list. Here, simply click on the contact you want to call. A dialog window, now appears, in which you select which of your stored phones you want to use to make the call. Then simply click the call button.
